Artificial Intelligence (AI) Journey – an international artificial intelligence and data science conference scheduled to be held online on December 3–5, 2020 – has beaten last year’s record by the number of participants from outside Russia already. Back then, the conference welcomed 105 foreign guests from 34 countries, while this year as many as 400 people from 58 countries have confirmed their attendance.
In addition to China, the USA, Australia, Brazil, the UK, Germany, Israel, the UAE, Ireland, Italy, the Baltic States and Scandinavia, France, and other countries represented at AI Journey 2019, the 2020 event will also be attended by people from India, Portugal, Greece, Peru, Kenya, Ghana, and several other countries. A total of 5,315 people are currently registered on the conference website.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:
“This challenging year, our conference has already beaten the AI Journey 2019 record in terms of the number of applications submitted by foreign participants. At the moment, specialists from every fourth country in the world are set to participate in the event. We expect many professionals from India – last year its experts did not attend, but now India ranks first among foreign countries in terms of the number of registrations. I am sure this will strengthen our conference significantly because Indian DS & AI specialists are highly rated in the international market. The event, which should become one of the largest DS&AI ones in the world, is still one month away, so we look forward to more registrations and wider international representation.”
AI Journey is the largest platform where you can find up-to-date information about artificial intelligence and its application in Russia and abroad. The event is organized by Sberbank in cooperation with leading Russian and foreign technology companies. In 2019, AI Journey was held offline and attracted more than 150 leading industry experts as speakers, thus hitting the world’s Top 5 DS/AI conferences.
This year, about 200 leading Russian and international experts are expected as speakers. Among the recognized experts who have confirmed their attendance are Mike Davies, director of the Neuromorphic Computing Lab, Intel; Laurens van der Maaten, Research Director, Facebook AI Research, NY Site Head; and Jürgen Schmidhuber, Lab Director, Swiss AI Lab IDSIA.
This year the event will consist of an online AI contest; AI Journey Junior, an online conference for middle and high school students who are interested in AI and DS; and a three-day online conference on solutions in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, neuromorphic and heterogeneous computing, to name a few.
AI online contest winners will split the prize pool of RUB6.8 mln. The first prize for adults and schoolchildren is RUB1 mln. Creators of the best solutions will be awarded during the Artificial Intelligence Journey conference (AI Journey).
