This time, not only adult DS specialists are invited to participate in the contest — the best solutions offered by students under 18 will be awarded in the AIJ Junior special nomination.
NoFloodWithAI is a special track with a socially important theme prepared jointly with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Natural Resources and the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.
Contestants are invited to develop an algorithm for short-term forecasting of water levels in the Amur River to prevent emergency situations in Russia’s regions.
The results of the contest will be reused to mitigate environmental risks and minimize economic damage wrought on the regions.
A solution is an archive containing a code written in Python only, complete with comments describing the proposed approach in detail and a presentation in pdf format. Priority will be given to innovative and out-of-the-box features and solutions that will help produce the highest-quality forecast.
The solution score will be given by the contest jury (on a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 represents the highest possible score and 0 is the lowest score). The contest jury consists of the organizer’s representatives and guest experts.
The final solution score will be the sum of the result of automatic code verification and a score given by the contest jury.

How can I participate in the AI Journey contest?
To participate, you must register by filling out a form, then develop and upload your solution in accordance with the rules.
You can improve your solution and upload it again later.
Is participation free of charge?
Yes, registration and participation are free of charge.
Can I join at a later date?
Uploading of solutions will be available until 23:59 on November 1.
When will winners be announced?
Winners will be selected and announced on our website by 23:59 on November 15.
Who can participate in AI Journey?
Legally capable individuals of 18+ who have expressed consent to the Rules and completed the contest task can participate in the contest.
The Contest is also open to individuals under 18 years of age who have expressed consent to the Contest Rules and completed one or more Contest Tasks in accordance with the requirements of the Rules, with the right to qualify for a cash prize only in the AIJ Junior special nomination.
Can residents of other cities or countries participate?
Yes, residents of all cities and countries of the world are invited to participate in the Contest without any restrictions.
Is the contest for individuals only or are teams allowed too?
Participants can set up teams of up to four each (inclusive).
All team members must be registered and labeled as such on the platform.
The composition of a Participant Team may only include Participants who are 18+ and are not directly or indirectly related to the organization of this Contest.
Participation as part of a Participant Team is also allowed in the AIJ Junior special nomination, provided that all Participants are individuals under the age of 18 who have expressed consent to the Contest Rules and completed one or more Contest Tasks in accordance with the requirements of the Rules.
Can participants choose a final solution?
The latest solution uploaded by a participant will be considered their final solution.
How will solutions be evaluated?
The final solution score will be the sum of the result of an automatic code verification (on a scale of 0 to 5, where 5 represents the highest possible score and 0 is the lowest score) and a score given by the contest jury (on a scale of 0 to 5, where 5 represents the highest possible score and 0 is the lowest score). Are there any restrictions on participation in AI Journey?
Persons directly or indirectly involved in the preparation of tasks or data, as well as in the organization of this Contest are not allowed to participate in the Contest.
Participants to whom this restriction applies and who have consented to the rules may send in their solutions, but they may not qualify for a cash prize.
