Digital Peter is an educational task with a historical slant created on the basis of several AI technologies (Computer Vision, NLP, and knowledge graphs). The task was prepared jointly with the Saint Petersburg Institute of History (N.P.Lihachov mansion) of Russian Academy of Sciences, Federal Archival Agency of Russia and Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts.
Contestants are invited to create an algorithm for line-by-line recognition of manuscripts written by Peter the Great.
Solutions provided by contestants will be uploaded into an automated verification system and evaluated against a hidden dataset.
The solution is an archive with a code executable in the Docker container environment.

Who can participate in AI Journey?
Legally capable individuals of 18+ who have expressed consent to the Rules and completed the contest task can participate in the contest.
The Contest is also open to individuals under 18 years of age who have expressed consent to the Contest Rules and completed one or more Contest Tasks in accordance with the requirements of the Rules, with the right to qualify for a cash prize only in the AIJ Junior special nomination.
Can residents of other cities or countries participate?
Yes, residents of all cities and countries of the world are invited to participate in the Contest without any restrictions.
Is the contest for individuals only or are teams allowed too?
Participants can set up teams of up to four people each (inclusive).
All team members must be registered and labeled as such on the platform.
The composition of a Participant Team may only include Participants who are 18+ and are not directly or indirectly related to the organization of this Contest.
Participation as part of a Participant Team is also allowed in the AIJ Junior special nomination, provided that all Participants are individuals under the age of 18 who have expressed consent to the Contest Rules and completed one or more Contest Tasks in accordance with the requirements of the Rules.
Can participants choose a final solution?
Yes.
Participants will need to choose up to two final solutions in their personal account, according to which the final scoring of the solutions will take place.
The score of the best of the two chosen solutions will become the final result of the contest.
How will solutions be evaluated?
Solutions will be evaluated automatically by running them on hidden test datasets to compare them with true tags known only to the organizers.
The task scoring is calculated online and updated in real time.
Will there be an awards ceremony for winners?
Yes, the awards ceremony will be held as part of the AI Journey conference.
Are there any restrictions on participation in AI Journey?
Persons directly or indirectly involved in the preparation of tasks or data, as well as in the organization of this Contest are not allowed to participate in the Contest.
Participants to whom this restriction applies and who have consented to the rules may send in their solutions, but they may not qualify for a cash prize.
